The Sema
Over the last few years, I've been lucky enough to work on both series of Netflix's Ancient Apocalypse. We've made it to some amazing places around the world following Graham Hancock's research and theorising.
The Sema, is a sacred ritual performed by the Sufi Dervishes; it combines poetry, music, chanting and spinning. Working with DOP Will Fewkes, we very simply lit a large worship space. To see the the sequence used in the series, you can find it in Episode 7. A Fatal Winter on Netflix. Although we used multiple cameras with jib and slider, this edit is made up purely of shots from my Sony FX9.
Shot near Derinkuyu, Turkiye.
